[00:36:37] <BrewNaked> If I'm looking to perform an action via the onAfterWrite() function within a DataObject, but there are has_one/has_many relations back to the same DataObject class (which each generate the same onAfterWrite()), is there a straightforward way to determine which onAfterWrite() call is the "last" one?
 [00:36:39] <BrewNaked> http://pastebin.com/KX9bzMVL
[00:37:07] <BrewNaked> ...if that makes any sense.
 [00:42:18] * robbiea has joined #silverstripe
[00:48:06] <BrewNaked> I'm currently seeing the onAfterWrite() hit three times when adding any new "child" object. I'm assuming that if you have a has_many <- has_one relationship between two instances of the same class (child/parent hierarchy), that adding a new "child" would generate an onAfterWrite() for creating the new object, then another onAfterWrite() when the "parent's" has_many is updated to include the new child an
[00:48:06] <BrewNaked> d then, finally, the child's has_one is updated to include the parent?

 [02:20:58] <torican> FYI just done a crude hack: <% if $InheritSideBar %>$Parent.SideBar<% else %>$SideBar<% end_if %>

[07:34:57] <qlex1> hey guys. i have this strange problem - trying to export submitted messages to userforms module... there's a button that calls: http://localhost/mywebsite/admin/EditForm/field/Reports/export/?id=10
[07:36:06] <qlex1> there's in fact >13k messages to be exported (but my php.ini seems to cater for this in terms of timeouts i guess) and the output csv file is 1mb only - has all records (i can see the submitted dates) but in terms of other content to be exported (name, message, email address) it breaks on row 751 and the rest of rows are emtpy
[07:36:30] <qlex1> any idea what i could try ? im trying to grab that from database, but its split into several rows in submittedformfield table
 [07:48:41] * swaiba has joined #silverstripe
 [07:49:56] <qlex1> anyone ?
[07:50:09] <Agilix_> Can you extend an extension? :p I extended a page with metakeyword, but now they need to be extended with a fluentExtension (we use this for translations)

[08:15:18] <qlex1> really, is there noone that would have any hints on my issue?

 [08:34:40] <qlex1> ok
[08:34:49] <qlex1> swaiba: trying to export 13k submissions to userforms
 [08:35:01] <swaiba> memory issues?
[08:35:03] <qlex1> using the button: Export submission to csv file
 [08:35:04] <qlex1> nope
[08:35:14] <qlex1> the outputted csv files includes rows for all submissions
[08:35:26] <qlex1> but it stops outputting selected columns only
[08:35:40] <qlex1> so it keeps recording all submission dates until the end of the file
[08:35:47] * spronk quit (Quit: I may need a longer sleep timer...)
[08:35:56] <qlex1> but the columns where fields like "name" "message" etc should be populate,d are empty
[08:36:25] <qlex1> i tried deleting submissions from the database directly (the one that is the last complete and the first that's doesnt populate
[08:36:41] <qlex1> but no change - still outputted file is 1MB
[08:36:55] <qlex1> so i know it must be either silverstripe setting or php setting
[08:37:04] <qlex1> im running it locally on my windows laptop with xampp
[08:37:21] <qlex1> 8gb of ram, i set memory to 256mb in php, the timeouts to 600seconds etc
[08:37:47] <qlex1> but still, when i hit export in ss, it goes for approx 30 secs and shows up file of 1mb csv to save
[08:45:34] <swaiba> well if the file saves, instead of just dieing... then it isn't memory
[08:45:47] <swaiba> is the user defined form?
[08:48:13] * phorloop_ quit (Quit: Byeee...)
 [08:52:47] <qlex1> yes it is
 [08:52:50] <qlex1> any ideas ?
 [08:52:57] <qlex1> problem is, its ss 2.4.2 !
[08:55:58] <swaiba> my first idea would be to determine the version of UDF you have and then to look for the latest 2.4 version you could get
[08:56:19] <swaiba> AFAIK the version around the time of 2.4.2 was terrible in the eport function
[08:56:34] <swaiba> but this was cleaned up in a later (still 2.4.x) release
[08:56:42] <qlex1> ok, im copying the live environemtn of my client now and just need to export the submissions
 [08:56:54] <qlex1> so would you update the ss to newer than 2.4.2 - let's say 2.4.7 ?
[08:57:09] <qlex1> and leave the UDF module or updaste it too if it doesnt work with 2.4.7 ?
[08:58:25] <qlex1> would i look for 2.4.7 in github and just replace cms and sapphire folders ?
[08:59:35] <swaiba> I'm not saying update the sapphire or cms... I'#m saying update the udf module
[08:59:43] <swaiba> for a lter version that is still 2.4 compatable
 [09:01:00] <wmk> uh - updating inside 2.4... good luck!
 [09:02:27] <qlex1> hmm
 [09:02:32] <qlex1> i can see i have 0.3.0
[09:02:43] <qlex1> and then next one i see in github is branch 0.4.0
 [09:02:47] <qlex1> that requires SilverStripe 2.4.6+ :)
 [09:02:50] <qlex1> and im on 2.4.2
[09:03:04] <qlex1> which means, update ss to 2.4.6 and then userforms to 0.4.0 ? :)
 [09:04:16] <qlex1> github only has 3+ silvestripe
 [09:04:21] <qlex1> guys, any help ??
[09:07:39] <qlex1> \i managed to update the udf to 0.4.0 even with 2.4.2.ss
[09:14:56] <qlex1> and it allowed me to export
[09:15:04] <qlex1> there's differences in the naming of the columns
 [09:15:06] <qlex1> but it worked !
[09:15:21] <qlex1> thanks for suggestion to update userforms module

[09:32:17] <wmk> qlex1 if you have any chance to update to 3.x ... do it
[09:32:48] <wmk> there's a great tool that can help you with your own code, most modules should have a newer version for 3.x
 [09:33:48] <qlex1> can you say more ?
[09:34:01] <qlex1> we're to update the site to newest, but we will most probably start fresh
[09:34:10] <qlex1> and let the client fill in the content themselves during training
[09:34:33] <qlex1> but we have some of our own code and it would be good to examine those modules ahead
[09:34:43] <qlex1> we wont be able to wait until ss 4, but will use newest

[09:55:19] <Agilix_> Can an extension be extended? Or a decorator? I have a extension to a page but the fields added need to be translatable. We do this by extending with the FluentExtension
[10:04:33] <Agilix_> I thought it would be translatable by default if the item you extend is also extended by that extension

[20:18:04] <vanny> im trying to understand gridfields, I alway know what I want to do, but working it out takes a long time
[20:18:13] <muskie9> could be worse, the previous vendor did some pretty good documentation, and phpstorm is saving me time tracking where methods live
[20:18:46] <muskie9> I just keep thinking how the site would be sooooo much easier for the client if it was SS, but that'll come down the road if we do well I'm thinking

[20:34:43] <muskie9> by main record, do you mean the current object (i.e. current page)
[20:35:42] <vanny> data object, eg order details, and then all the items on that order. but on one page
[20:36:37] <vanny> it is really for view only as well

[20:37:52] <vanny> or if I could render that page to a template would be even better :P
[20:37:56] <muskie9> you should be able to traverse the relations if you have the initial object... and if it's a list of objects, then a foreach over the list then calling the relation method should work

[23:44:57] <EasyCo> Hey guys, I've asked this before and I'll ask one more time before I dive in and give it a go: On my SS 3.1 site, in the backend we can switch themes. We now have a new theme that needs different extra fields and so on. What I want to do is when you switch themes, the available page types will be different to suit that theme.
[23:46:27] <EasyCo> I'm thinking I could override the page type listing when creating a new page in the CMS and have it look at what theme is being used and filter the page type based on that theme...
