[02:27:35] <Admonish> Hey yall, I have a general php/mysql question. If I wanted to store symantic versioning (e.g. 1.0.1 or 100.0.2) in a database table a) what data type would I use and b) what would the be the best way to make sure user form fields are valid (perhaps test it with regx?)
 [02:30:04] * robbiea has joined #silverstripe
[02:30:36] <micmania1> Admonish: Varchar is what you want. In terms of validating the number - probably regex but you can also use version_compare()

[05:58:56] <Tanger> Morning all! Does anybody know why SS might be running populateDefaults when I access /admin?
[05:59:07] <Tanger> I always thought it was on database build only
[06:25:34] <wmk> well, populateDefaults... isn't it for putting $defaults in the new DO?
 [06:26:21] <wmk> http://api.silverstripe.org/3.1/class-DataObject.html#_populateDefaults
[06:27:19] <wmk> Tanger, http://api.silverstripe.org/3.1/class-DataObject.html#_requireDefaultRecords is for default records in DB when running dev/build

[07:02:56] <Tanger> wmk: Amazeballs, I’ve always been using populateDefaults.
 [07:03:11] <wmk> ;)
[07:03:50] <Tanger> I need to add a Block item to each page when it’s created as a default though. Populatedefaults seemed to do it fine until I started getting duplicate key errors for some reason
 [07:04:19] <Tanger> Thanks wmk, gamechanger :P

[09:04:12] <wmk> can i tell sake which php interpreter to use if i have more than one on the server?
[09:15:46] * Stomach quit (Quit: zzz)
[09:24:41] <kinglozzer> wmk: Nope, but you could edit the `sake` file once you've copied it to /usr/bin?
[09:25:04] <kinglozzer> It just runs "which php" and "which php5" to try to find the path
 [09:25:52] <wmk> kinglozzer, this should do the trick: /usr/bin/php56 /path/to/framework/cli-script.php dev/tasks/FOOTask
 [09:26:40] <kinglozzer> Yeah that's probably better
[09:26:47] <kinglozzer> I never use sake to run CLI tasks either :P
[09:26:51] <wmk> though i love sake, but in this case....
 [09:26:56] <wmk> never? why not kinglozzer ?
[09:28:17] <kinglozzer> wmk: Dunno, never seen any advantage in it...

[12:51:37] <swaiba> sorry darjus01 but my eyes and brain hurt looking at so much duplicated code!

[13:07:21] <darjus01> yes i know it nots clean code, but what can influance on push save first time its refreshes page and second time it saves normaly
[13:17:49] <swaiba> a fair questions - but one I'm not going to be able to answer for you - darjus01
[13:19:17] <wmk> darjus01, uneducated guess: maybe you have to point your form to the edit action?
[13:19:58] <darjus01> wmk what do you mean?
[13:22:25] <wmk> so - the first time it redirects to itself and then it works?
[13:22:38] <wmk> then you have to find out the differences between first time and redirection.
[13:23:00] <wmk> i guess some action or path is not set 100% correctly

[13:24:34] <darjus01> hmm ok I will try to look for it
[13:24:45] <swaiba> darjus01 does this reduced snippet reproduce the issue? or is it likely still in the ".. long code ..."?
 [13:25:12] <darjus01> long code is basicly $data = $object field
[13:25:22] <darjus01> so it not making big deal
[13:27:33] * robbiea quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
 [13:27:39] <darjus01> is my thinking corect on deti form i have it url handler so it could take param ID in form, then on form itself i make action with id $form = new Form($this, 'EditEstateForm/'.$EstateID , $fields, $actions, $required);

[20:26:30] <Admonish> Hey yall. So im doing some work in the validate function for a modal (used by a modalAdmin) and I keep getting errors in my code during development. But instead of silverstripe logging what the error are it will either show nothing at all or show a small popup in the upper right corner. The popup will say something like "notify on line 100 in /path/to/file". Is there a way to actually get what the php errors are and show them on the screen?
 [20:26:42] <Admonish> oh and hi r3verb :D
[20:27:12] <muskie9> Admonish do you have an _ss_environment.php file?
[20:27:16] <r3verb> Admonish, check your php error file?
 [20:27:31] <Admonish> muskie9 let me check
[20:27:33] <r3verb> ;) heh, probably already done that though
[20:27:37] <muskie9> I like to do define('SS_ERROR_LOG', 'silverstripe.log'); in there so it generates that stuff in a silverstripe.log file
[20:27:53] <muskie9> you could probably throw that in a mysite/_config.php or something too
[20:28:06] <r3verb> muskie9, any idea on my issue with an undefined property above?
 [20:28:32] * BrewNaked has joined #silverstripe
 [20:28:37] <muskie9> r3verb I must've missed it... I'll check the logs
 [20:28:48] <Admonish> muskie9 I will try that out , thanks
 [20:29:02] <r3verb> ta, muskie9
[20:29:15] <Admonish> and r3verb, the php error file totally skipped my mind. I will check that too :D
[20:29:18] <r3verb> logs seem painfully slow tonight...
 [20:30:51] <muskie9> r3verb that's a good question... you're not in a static method when calling $this are you?
[20:34:21] <Admonish> muskie9 two small questions (I can wait until your done helping r3verb :) ). 1) After setting that SS_ERROR_LOG setting do I need to create the log file myself or will it create it? 2) Do I need to do a dev/build ?
[20:35:47] <muskie9> Admonish it should create it and no dev/build should be needed
 [20:35:58] <r3verb> muskie9, not that I'm aware of : nope public function index() ...
[20:36:15] <muskie9> r3verb can you paste your controller
 [20:36:24] <r3verb> possibly :D
 [20:36:28] <Admonish> XD
[20:36:48] <Admonish> A private gist would do well too

 [20:37:55] <r3verb> muskie9, http://www.sspaste.com/paste/show/570c0b14f0aff
 [20:39:12] <muskie9> r3verb what about just public $Title;
 [20:39:17] <r3verb> i've tried public static/private static self:: and $this->
 [20:39:19] <muskie9> rather than public static $Title
 [20:39:28] <r3verb> muskie9, lets see
[20:41:21] <r3verb> hmm, white screen of dooom!
 [20:41:24] <r3verb> Yay!
 [20:41:27] <Admonish> Nooo
 [20:41:32] <Admonish> lol
[20:42:28] <Admonish> Do you have Director: environment_type: 'dev' set in your config.yml file?
[20:43:25] <r3verb> Admonish, nah it was a call to something else - already found the issue... public $Title appears to work muskie9
[20:44:24] <Admonish> np :D . Btw I am most likely the noobest member here so take my suggestions as a grain of salt.
 [20:44:59] <muskie9> nice

 [20:47:12] * qlex says hi
[20:47:38] <qlex> guys, any quick help? my client has an old SS (2.4!!!) and since not long ago, when somebody sends message via user defined form, he's getting:
[20:47:51] <qlex> Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /home/xxxxx/sapphire/core/model/DataObjectSet.php on line 74
 [20:48:55] <Admonish> muskie9 indeed :)
[20:49:16] <muskie9> qlex that's the worst error ever... in my experience I get that when there's an image that's way too large loaded in the cms... but it sounds like that wouldn't be the case
[20:49:56] <qlex> exactly - im just sending a test message via the form (not attaching anything) and getting this error
[20:50:41] <qlex> but when added this to htaccess, i seem to resolve it for now:
 [20:50:42] <qlex> php_value memory_limit 196M
 [20:50:46] <qlex> it was set to 128M
[20:51:07] <muskie9> how many submissions are in the database?
 [20:54:46] <qlex> 13537
 [20:54:51] <qlex> that's a lot i assume
 [20:54:53] <muskie9> WOW
 [20:54:57] <muskie9> ya, quite a bit
 [20:55:12] <Admonish> 0_o
[20:55:35] <muskie9> might be part of it... cause every submission has many editable field submission records
 [20:55:41] * adrexia has joined #silverstripe
[20:55:53] <muskie9> so # of submissions * # of editable fields in the form
 [20:55:54] <Admonish> <- Almost fell over (kinda ;)
 [20:57:15] <qlex> i know
[20:57:27] <qlex> told my client to delete the messages he dont need
[20:57:39] <qlex> but its been left like this, from beggining of existing of this website
[20:57:55] <Admonish> Thank God that silverstripe doesn't store its images directly in the database fields. That would make forms with upload fields a huge headache.
[20:58:00] <qlex> anyways, adding more memory solved it for time beeing - and i urged them to export to csv and delete
[20:58:22] <muskie9> qlex can't remember, but might be an export to csv option for the submissions... could have them export them as an archive then write a script to remove them all
[20:58:54] <qlex> there's a button to export all, but i think it will fail with this ammount of submissions
 [20:59:15] <muskie9> true
[20:59:29] <Admonish> It is quite annoying when a client doesn't listen to sound advice and then months later comes back to you with an issue that was caused by them not listening....
 [20:59:40] <Admonish> I think I better stop before I start ranting
 [20:59:41] <qlex> happens all the time !
 [20:59:45] <qlex> heh
[20:59:51] <qlex> ok, its 11pm here, need to run
 [20:59:56] <Admonish> np
 [20:59:58] <qlex> early wakeup tomorrow
 [20:59:59] <Admonish> cya later
 [21:00:02] <qlex> thanx for tips
[21:00:13] <qlex> i will be back here later, as we plan on updating to 3.4 for that client
 [21:00:26] <Admonish> alrighty

[21:41:20] <vitaly_> Hi, having troubles with Fulltextsearch on 3.2. When I type regular search string with words in it in search field it works fine but if I'll try something like <script>alert(1)</script> it returns server error: Uncaught SS_DatabaseException: Couldn't run query
[21:41:35] <vitaly_> Does anyone knows what is happening?

[22:00:59] <vitaly_> robbiea: I would prefer if it'll just return regular search page with search results :)
 [22:01:15] <robbiea> you checked logs?
[22:01:34] <vitaly_> It just can't execute DB query
[22:01:53] <vitaly_> SELECT DISTINCT count(*) FROM "SiteTree" WHERE ( MATCH (Title, MenuTitle, Content, MetaDescription) AGAINST ('alert(1)*' IN BOOLEAN MODE) + MATCH (Title, MenuTitle, Content, MetaDescription) AGAINST ('<script>alert(1)</script>*' IN BOOLEAN MODE) AND ShowInSearch 0) syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting FTS_TERM or FTS_NUMB or '*'
[22:02:22] <vitaly_> I'm not really sure what's wrong with it and how to fix that
[22:03:35] <robbiea> PHP syntax error at the end of your SQL there?

[22:20:11] <vitaly_> Hmm... problems is that the only thing I did for the search functionality is search page and FulltextSearchable::enable() in config
 [22:20:21] <vitaly_> I should probably update it to 3.3

[22:38:46] <jules0x> I can specify the min verison I want like so..,.
 [22:38:47] <jules0x> "silverstripe/cms": "~3.2",
[22:38:56] <jules0x> but can I do the same like this?
 [22:38:58] <jules0x> "silverstripe/cms": "~3",
 [22:39:18] <jules0x> ie. works on 3.1, 3.2, 3.3
 [22:40:26] <muskie9> jules0x "silverstripe/cms": "^3"
 [22:40:29] <muskie9> I think
[22:40:49] <jules0x> would that work if I wanted 3.1 to be the min? ie. ^3.1
 [22:40:59] <muskie9> I think so
 [22:41:03] <jules0x> thanks

[22:47:57] <MichalKleiner> I just can't get this gridfield limiting of items working.. simply all I want is not to add new items when it reaches certain limit.. canCreate on DO doesn't work, because it doesn't know the parent.. remove Add field doesnt work because i'm using inline add new via ajax.. uaaaaa
[22:48:03] <MichalKleiner> driving me crazy.. such a simple thing
[22:48:42] <MichalKleiner> this not working because it's not using the relation editor

[22:49:09] <MichalKleiner> this is the closest I can get with https://github.com/patricknelson/silverstripe-gridfieldlimititems
[22:49:30] <MichalKleiner> but it still adds the item, it just deletes it on save.. I want to prevent the addition
