 [02:04:50] <Jakx> yo
[02:05:47] <Jakx> Is there a way to utilise $this->extend('methodName'), from within a child class? Or is it only available to DataExtensions?
[02:06:00] * Kapdap quit (Quit: Lost terminal)
 [02:06:42] * Kapdap has joined #silverstripe
[02:07:18] <Jakx> i.e could I create public function methodName() {} and have it trigger when the $this->extend() method is called in the parent. Or something to this effect?
[02:09:37] <Jakx> I wanna get in on this extend action maaaaan.
 [02:17:57] * chillu_23 quit (Ping timeout: 246 seconds)
[02:28:45] * Pyromanik quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
 [02:29:10] * Pyromanik has joined #silverstripe
 [02:38:38] <Pyromanik> hullo Jakx
 [02:39:57] <Pyromanik> this->extend is for extensions.
 [02:40:09] * Jakx tips hat
 [02:40:25] <Pyromanik> you want parent::thisFuncitonNameThing
[02:41:28] <Jakx> Pyromanik, hmmm. My parent method has a very uselful $this->extend in it, and I need to inject some cool shit in the middle of the method.
[02:42:09] <Jakx> Pyromanik, I could replicate the method in my child, but it's like 200 lines, and I only need to add 5.
[02:42:17] <Pyromanik> all it does is call the named method on any applied extensions.
[02:43:13] <Jakx> Pyromanik, do you have any cunning tricks for my situation?
[02:43:21] <Pyromanik> I'm not sure what your situation is
 [02:43:41] <Pyromanik> :<
[02:44:06] <Jakx> Pyromanik, I am trying to add some custom data to a UserDefinedForm's email content, via the controller. Essentially.
[02:45:00] <Pyromanik> what does it return?
 [02:45:20] * jules0x quit (Quit: Leaving)
[02:46:18] <Jakx> SS_HTTPRequest, aka $this->redirect(), this is after the email is send. (This is UserDefinedForm::process())
 [02:48:25] <Pyromanik> https://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-userforms/blob/master/code/model/UserDefinedForm.php#L601
 [02:48:27] <Pyromanik> this one Jakx ?
 [02:49:34] <Jakx> That's the one
[02:50:56] <Pyromanik> yeah but master? or... version?
[02:53:19] <Jakx> Pyromanik, oh! Yeah, but of an old version. Aaaand I can't find what. I never have been able to figure out where people keep module version numbers.
 [02:54:08] <Pyromanik> they don't really :<
 [02:54:17] <Pyromanik> it's a problem, unless composer.
[02:54:31] <Jakx> Yeah, no composer on this one sadly. Bit of a retro build.
 [02:54:36] * helenclarko has joined #silverstripe
[02:54:47] <Jakx> the process() method is pretty much the same, at a glance.
[02:54:54] <helenclarko> Hey guys and girls!
 [02:55:04] <Pyromanik> hi
 [02:55:18] <helenclarko> hey Pyromanik
 [02:55:36] <helenclarko> Whats new?
 [02:55:53] <Pyromanik> fuck all :<
[02:55:54] <helenclarko> Its been a week though honestly
 [02:56:04] <Pyromanik> it's tuesday :<
 [02:56:44] <helenclarko> I flew out of Cristchurch last-last saturday
[02:57:15] <helenclarko> Currently sitting in bed with a cold in TORONTO, CANADA!!!
[02:58:48] <Pyromanik> in that case Jakx it's probably easier to use injector and override UserFormRecipientEmail
[02:59:02] <Pyromanik> set that to a subclass of your choosing.
[02:59:16] <Pyromanik> oh, fuck no, because new <class>
 [02:59:18] <Pyromanik> shit
 [02:59:20] <Pyromanik> fuck
 [02:59:21] <Pyromanik> whatever
[02:59:50] <Jakx> Pyromanik, ahah. No worries, I hear ya. Thanks for the help. Good to get a second person aproach it.
[03:00:33] <Pyromanik> Jakx, I think your best bet would probably be to try and manipulate the fields that get passed to the template.
 [03:00:53] * PapaBearNZ has joined #silverstripe
[03:01:21] <Pyromanik> which you can use an extension for
 [03:01:23] <Pyromanik> or
 [03:01:25] <Pyromanik> yeah
 [03:01:36] <PapaBearNZ> HI all.
[03:01:43] <Pyromanik> just update the template, and add some extra shit to the data array through the extension hook there Jakx
 [03:01:50] <Pyromanik> https://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-userforms/blob/master/code/model/UserDefinedForm.php#L676
[03:02:15] <Pyromanik> Make an extension with updateEmailData method, apply it to useform, job done.
[03:02:22] <Jakx> Pyromanik, yeah nice. I'll give it a shot.
 [03:02:33] <Jakx> tyvm.
 [03:02:35] <Pyromanik> hi PapaBearNZ
 [03:02:43] <Pyromanik> Jakx, you're welcome :>
[03:02:48] <Pyromanik> hope it works out for ya
[03:03:03] <Jakx> Pyromanik, I feel good about it.
[03:03:21] <Pyromanik> the bits getting passed in to that function are basically what you'd find in a customise() call.
[03:03:27] <PapaBearNZ> I'm having a problem with UploadField. We've upgraded our framework to SS3.1.16 (don't ask) and now UploadField is failing on almost every upload attempt with an Apache Error "Request entity is too large". If I run our current master (3.1.2) uploads work fine, if I run our upgrade branch (3.1.16) I can't upload a file at all.
[03:03:29] <Pyromanik> So you should have it from here :>
 [03:03:58] <Pyromanik> PapaBearNZ, any file>
 [03:03:59] <Pyromanik> ?
 [03:04:13] <Pyromanik> or just a massive file?
[03:04:13] <PapaBearNZ> The two branches are being run under identical environments (apart from the SS version)
[03:04:42] <PapaBearNZ> Pyro - the file I'm trying to upload is 200Mb to a field that should accept up to 10 megs
 [03:04:51] <PapaBearNZ> 200kb I mean
 [03:04:52] <PapaBearNZ> sheesh
[03:04:54] <Pyromanik> Yeah well that would explain it -.-
 [03:04:56] <Pyromanik> oh
 [03:04:59] <PapaBearNZ> *facepalm*
[03:05:13] <Pyromanik> Kb, just so ya know :P
[03:05:37] <PapaBearNZ> Pyromanik: hehe - yeah. Lysdexic fingers doncha know :)
 [03:06:20] * BrewNaked has joined #silverstripe
[03:06:24] <PapaBearNZ> did something significant chance in the code for UploadField somewhere between 3.1.2 and 3.1.16?
[03:06:35] <PapaBearNZ> and I have missed a config option somewhere?
[03:06:38] <Pyromanik> This one time I remember when I was 14 and I went to type "Hi Mum how are you doing?" but it came out "FUCK YOU YOU RUINED MY LIFE I WISH I WAS NEVER BORN"
 [03:06:43] <Pyromanik> stupid fingers.
[03:07:28] <Pyromanik> PapaBearNZ, Check to see there was no sneak api thing snuck in.
[03:07:37] <PapaBearNZ> if I check getAllowedFilesize on the UploadField instance I get 10Mb
[03:07:40] <Pyromanik> which you have to specify or defaults to 0.
 [03:07:43] <Pyromanik> say like filesize.
[03:08:00] <Pyromanik> Yeh, iirc there are 2 options which affect it.
[03:08:10] <Pyromanik> one on the field, and one on Upload (class) or something like that
[03:08:17] <Pyromanik> it gets all very confusing, and I don't like it.
[03:08:26] <Pyromanik> turns into that voodoo vapour shit :<
[03:08:36] <Pyromanik> At least, last I looked at it.
[03:08:46] <Pyromanik> Hopefully UX is better now.
 [03:08:50] <PapaBearNZ> stand by - I'll check...
[03:08:58] <Pyromanik> (intentional misuse of 'ux').
[03:09:22] <Pyromanik> satirically pointing out the crappyness of the retronym.
[03:10:27] * BrewNaked quit (Ping timeout: 246 seconds)
[03:12:10] <PapaBearNZ> Pyromanik: MaxUpload and MaxPost on the UploadField class are both set to 10485760 in __construct(). Our code doesn't explicitly set a filesize.
 [03:12:25] <Pyromanik> config PapaBearNZ
[03:12:36] <helenclarko> Just overhearing that a man was slaughtered at the bank im about to sign up for.
 [03:12:39] <helenclarko> Yikes
 [03:12:40] <Pyromanik> check yml
[03:13:02] <Pyromanik> helenclarko, in the canada already?
[03:13:17] <helenclarko> Yup, been just over a week.
 [03:13:22] <helenclarko> Its different.
 [03:13:30] <Pyromanik> coool (pun intended)
[03:13:58] <helenclarko> I've signed up for one bank already but will be changing tomorrow... All these stupid hidden fees
[03:14:22] <Pyromanik> Yeah. You gotta be real particular when overseas eh. Thorough research on all things.
 [03:14:26] <Pyromanik> It's a windup.
[03:14:29] <helenclarko> Pyromanik: haha, yeah. I've been out shovelling snow alrady
[03:14:38] <Pyromanik> But in money grabby super capitalist societies...
[03:14:43] <Pyromanik> you gotta watch yer feets.
[03:14:59] <Pyromanik> Found a similar thing in england.
[03:15:20] <Pyromanik> EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING) was intentionally designed to get people on the credit nipple.
[03:15:47] <helenclarko> I signed up with scotiabank just because I could get a joining account with my partners mother, but there are so many fees
[03:15:52] <Pyromanik> Some times there was no option at all for any other kind of payment / purchasing option (other than to say, lease it for eternity)
[03:16:22] <Pyromanik> (and to pay for said lease through direct debit, giving them control of your bank account)
[03:16:24] <helenclarko> I also only get 25 transactions a month and need a minimum of $2500 in the account at all times.
 [03:16:35] <Pyromanik> wow
 [03:16:37] <Pyromanik> fuck that :<
 [03:16:53] <helenclarko> Exactly
[03:16:54] <Pyromanik> HSBC did me well, and they're global. I intentionally chose a bank with branches in NZ.
[03:17:28] <Pyromanik> But they're UK based (despite the name being HONG KONG savings bank corp or something like that), may not be in Canada.
[03:17:36] <Pyromanik> I would assume so though, being global.
[03:18:16] <helenclarko> I think I'm looking at Presidents Choice Bank. They have a zero fee accounts
[03:18:27] <Pyromanik> Zero fee accounts are the future.
 [03:18:37] <Pyromanik> s'what ya want.
 [03:18:53] <helenclarko> Haha yeah.
[03:19:04] <Pyromanik> I never realised how scary it was choosing a bank.
[03:19:18] <Pyromanik> Always just sorta took it forgranted I guess.
[03:19:42] <helenclarko> Yeah, I was like "how can you charge people for these things.
[03:19:56] <Pyromanik> Mind you, it's sorta like that here when it comes to Automatic Payments.
[03:20:00] <helenclarko> It was as if you needed money just to open a bank account.
[03:20:10] <Pyromanik> it's entirely computerised, why the fuck is there a service fee?
 [03:20:15] <Pyromanik> idk.
 [03:20:36] <helenclarko> Yeah, $2 as a setup fee.
 [03:20:36] <Pyromanik> And a penalty for defaulting? I don't get that.
[03:20:49] <helenclarko> Nobody is actually looking it over.
[03:21:08] <Pyromanik> Charge because we can. Don't question it because that's the way it's alway been. Or somethign.
 [03:21:09] <Pyromanik> idk.
[03:21:19] <Pyromanik> Anyway, immo gans play games now.
 [03:21:23] <Pyromanik> imma*
[03:21:36] <Pyromanik> Unemployment is fun, but you get bored fucking quickly.
[03:21:53] <helenclarko> But I didnt mind that sort of thing, atleast I didnt need $2500 in the account at all times.
[03:22:27] <helenclarko> It just felt like all they wanted was my money, so they can make money from that.
[03:22:52] <helenclarko> Yeah, I'm currently looking for work.
[03:23:12] <PapaBearNZ> Pyromanik: php.ini has upload_max_filesize set to 10Mb, post_max_size set to 10Mb and there is nothing in our codebase config that overrides that. Apache LimitRequestBody is left at the default 0 (unlimited) This error "request entity too large" seems to be coming from Apache but only for the upgrade branch. IN the main master branch no such issue occurs - and the apache configs are identical.
 [03:23:20] <PapaBearNZ> *sigh* this is frustrating :(
 [03:24:39] <helenclarko> Okay, I'm out too!
 [03:24:49] <helenclarko> Night/Evening all!

[08:46:12] <Kingy> Hey guys, what would be the reason that security page comes back with 404? /security/login and /security/logout work fine but they redirect back to /security which 404s
 [08:47:35] <wmk> Kingy, route problems?
[08:47:43] <wmk> which version of SS?
 [08:48:02] <wmk> over here logout is "Security/logout"
 [08:48:09] <wmk> with uppercase S
 [08:48:43] <Kingy> yeah it's /Security (still 404)
 [08:48:58] <Kingy> I can't see any odd routes
[08:49:23] <wmk> a /security is also 404, maybe cause SecurityController doesn't have a default or index method defined?
 [08:49:30] <wmk> on latest 3.1
 [08:51:00] <wmk> oh, it has
 [08:51:04] <wmk> but... https://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-framework/blob/3/security/Security.php#L311 Kingy
 [08:51:29] <Kingy> lol
 [08:51:30] <Kingy> that's handy
[08:52:02] <wmk> and they redirect back if you don't put that ?BackURL param in the URL
 [08:52:12] <Kingy> yeah
 [08:52:26] <wmk> so /admin/ redirects to /Security/login?BackURL=%2Fadmin%2Fpages
[08:52:28] <Kingy> i can also see our custom lost password is just using /security as well
[08:52:38] <Kingy> so i might need to change that
 [08:54:57] <Kingy> thanks wmk

 [09:36:33] <Kingy> hey
 [09:37:12] <brasileric> is there a template syntax to get the first(top) parent? Now I do this: <% if Parent.URLSegment = "my-program" || Parent.Parent.URLSegment = "my-program" %> but maybe I can do easier and nicer?

 [09:38:38] <Kingy> <% if Top.URLSegment %>

 [09:43:33] <g4b0_> hi all
[09:43:57] <g4b0_> ho can I trigger an error message in a cms controller?
 [09:44:15] <wmk> hey g4b0_
 [09:44:51] <g4b0_> hey wmk
 [09:45:00] <wmk> g4b0_, trigger like what...?
 [09:45:12] <g4b0_> I have a GridField_HTMLProvider that provide a button
 [09:45:25] <g4b0_> inside a ModelAdmin
 [09:45:29] <wmk> ok, in backend
 [09:45:33] <g4b0_> yes
 [09:45:54] <wmk> phew, good question ;)
