 [01:46:55] <zippy> McClenaghanagainagainagain
[01:46:55] <jordanmk> Hey guys, any ideas for how to increase the duration of a Member's login session? I've got users who visit the site a couple of times throughout the day and they have to re-login every time they visit the site. I've tried setting Session.timeout in the config.yml to a high value (604800) but that doesn't seem to have fixed the issue.
 [01:47:00] <spronk> now
 [01:47:01] <spronk> matt henry
 [01:47:05] <spronk> don't choke. get 50
[01:48:06] <zippy> jordanmk: im sorry, this is #nzcricket
 [01:48:14] <jordanmk> lol
[01:48:39] <zippy> you set the php session length?
[01:49:02] <zippy> I don't think the ss setting will override the php one
 [01:49:27] <zippy> ouch..!
 [01:49:48] <spronk> hmm
[01:49:49] <jordanmk> zippy: no I don't think I've customised the PHP session length
[01:49:53] <spronk> zippy updates faster than cricinfo D:
[01:50:10] <zippy> the ACC is faster than skygo
 [01:50:16] <spronk> ?
 [01:50:31] <spronk> thats still on?
 [01:50:40] <zippy> oh shit
 [01:50:43] <zippy> dudes been hit
 [01:50:51] <zippy> http://www.iheart.com/live/alternative-comntry-collective-6693/?autoplay=true
 [01:51:31] <spronk> ooo
 [01:51:31] <spronk> wait
 [01:51:33] <spronk> wht happen
[01:51:41] <DanaeNZ> somebody set up us the bomb
 [01:51:45] <spronk> :D
 [01:52:31] <spronk> 280
 [01:52:31] <spronk> noicely done
[01:52:48] <zippy> and henry stuck on 48 lol
 [01:52:53] <spronk> poor matt
 [01:52:56] <zippy> deserves a 50
 [01:52:59] <spronk> definitely
[01:55:37] <zippy> tail order saving the top half by a long way there, reminds me of old black cap games
[01:55:52] <zippy> suppose I better do some work
[01:56:04] <zippy> jordanmk: sorted? drop in a phpinfo and look at the session stuff the server is set too
 [01:57:04] * m_4_k_x quit (Ping timeout: 250 seconds)
 [01:59:37] <helenclarko> jordanmk: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24158545/how-can-i-logout-an-administrator-in-silverstripe-3-1-x-after-period-of-inactivi
 [01:59:45] <helenclarko> Had a look at that?
[02:00:49] <helenclarko> You may need to extend left and main, looks like the session.timeout setting it to anything greater than 5 minutes isn't going to work in the CMS out of the box
[02:04:59] <jordanmk> zippy: yeah just trying to figure out a way to set the session to be longer that won't cause performance issues or security issues
[02:08:40] <jordanmk> zippy: current values from phpinfo can be seen here - http://i.imgur.com/qGGJvVo.png
[02:09:32] <jordanmk> helenclarko: yeah I'd found that link before which is where I got the Session.timeout idea from, but that didn't seem to do anything
[02:10:07] <helenclarko> Does it atleast last 5 minutes now before timeout?
[02:10:47] <helenclarko> I think thats the sessions timeout limit right, 5mins?
 [02:11:08] <spronk> rawr
[02:11:20] <jordanmk> helenclarko: yeah I'm 99% sure sessions are lasting longer than 5 minutes currently
[02:32:03] <jordanmk> zippy: I think my clients would ideally like their login session to last for a multiple days. They access both the front-end and the CMS using their logins. Is setting really high PHP session lengths the best (or only?) way of doing this? Seems like having every session last for days would have some negative effects, but I'm not 100% sure

 [11:29:37] <G-Factor> Hi
[11:30:20] <G-Factor> I posted a comment earlier today...I guess most people were still sleeping
[11:30:24] <G-Factor> logically, I think something is wrong with the function setCanAttachExisting() or maybe I've not seen the right doc. When i set the function to true, it does not allow attachement of files with the same name. all it does is to sho/hide the "choose from file" button

 [11:30:41] <G-Factor> Any thoughts?
[12:04:22] <Firesphere> No idea. It should be possible to auto-rename the file. When uploading, it usually asks what to do with the old file.

[17:01:39] <G-Factor> Hi, any idea how one could increment or append a rand() to a file name before it is uploaded to the File DB?
[17:02:15] <Firesphere> Extend File and get the parent of the filename generator. Add your custom code to it.
[17:04:19] <G-Factor> Not sure what you mean, however this is what I implemented
 [17:04:19] <G-Factor> https://docs.silverstripe.org/en/3.1/developer_guides/forms/field_types/uploadfield/
[17:05:00] <Firesphere> For custom file-naming, you need to write an extension for the File-class
 [17:06:48] <Firesphere> http://sspaste.com/paste/show/56a6562176b96
[17:07:01] <Firesphere> This is a rough guess, based on Symfony, but something like that should work I think.
[17:08:41] <G-Factor> good tip, but isn't there a way to allow files with same filename to exist in the File DB?
[17:09:18] <G-Factor> my guess is that the later will be a better fix rather than altering the filename
[17:09:31] <Firesphere> Yep, override the File class and make the name non-unique.
 [17:09:58] <Firesphere> That's the other option.
 [17:09:59] <G-Factor> huh?
[17:12:21] <G-Factor> the last i checked, filename is not a unique field
 [17:13:48] <Firesphere> It's in the code.
[17:14:12] <G-Factor> within the file class?
 [17:14:31] <Firesphere> Yep, should be.

[19:16:47] <Firesphere> By pointing it to the function via allowed_actions and a PageType_action method
[19:17:08] <vanny> thanks, I was trying to overthink it I think
[19:26:16] <vanny> if I have the function and $action as the same name I am getting a blank? I thought the public function would pass information to the _page.ss

[20:24:37] <Marketo> I'm trying to set an Enum field that's based off of class names available, similarly to how DataObject does it (with ClassName). I found `DataObject::get_classname_spec` and it returns the expected Enum.
[20:25:00] <Marketo> ...just not sure how I can apply it to my own class now.
 [20:25:10] <Marketo> ...to my own field. *

[20:59:48] <camfindlay> Marketo: perhaps you dont need to use an enum field. Could just make it a varcher and popular a DropdownField with a calculated array of your class names.
[21:04:20] * r_hector quit (Remote host closed the connection)
 [21:08:58] <micmania1> Marketo: http://api.silverstripe.org/3.1/source-class-DataObject.html#233 - That’s how DataObject does it for ClassName
[21:09:08] <Marketo> camfindlay: technically that will work but it uses significantly more storage space
[21:09:11] <micmania1> But what camfindlay would be much easier

[23:55:22] <Marketo> Can someone point me to the part of the framework in 3.2 that automatically adds in the GridField in ModelAdmins?

[23:59:09] <Marketo> @muskie9 - That doesn't seem right.... isn't that building the GridField for the entire ModelAdmin rather than a specific relation?
 [23:59:17] <Marketo> am I reading it worng?
