 [00:00:49] <Zauberfisch> I have settled for min-stabiliy dev but require cms ^3.1@stable

 [00:01:39] <Zauberfisch> haha, yeah
[00:01:41] <Zauberfisch> you can do that
[00:01:56] <Motoservo> Stomach, more snags. Let me try the adding ~3.1.9 part.
[00:02:11] <Stomach> Zauberfisch - either that or I target a specific commit hash
[00:02:20] <Stomach> dont want stuff to fuck out later, because it totally will otherwise
 [00:02:22] <Zauberfisch> Stomach: meh
 [00:02:26] <Stomach> lol :D
[00:02:36] <Stomach> if you're managing one site thats fine
[00:02:52] <Stomach> but anything more just screw that horrible moment :D
[00:02:53] <Zauberfisch> but targeting a specific release will fuck up just as much
 [00:02:55] <Motoservo> - silverstripe/widgets dev-master requires silverstripe/framework >=3.2 -> no matching package found.
[00:03:21] <antmas> was there any modules that were missed before simon shut em down?
[00:03:37] <Motoservo> Not sure what that means.
 [00:03:40] <Motoservo> antmas:
[00:03:59] <Zauberfisch> Motoservo: he wasn't talking to you
 [00:04:03] <Motoservo> ah
 [00:04:04] <Zauberfisch> antmas: no idea
[00:04:12] <antmas> Motoservo: just wondering if all of simon_w's modules were forked before he shut them down
 [00:04:26] <Motoservo> (Y)
 [00:04:34] <Motoservo> gotcha
[00:04:39] <RyanPotter> I think we missed the entitlement module.
[00:04:46] <RyanPotter> But we can do without.
 [00:04:54] <DanaeNZ> ll
 [00:05:00] <antmas> LOL
 [00:05:03] <DanaeNZ> hm
[00:05:08] <DanaeNZ> not sure if I meant to type lol
[00:05:17] <DanaeNZ> or if I was confused and thought I was in the terminal
 [00:05:31] <DanaeNZ> lol anyway :D
[00:07:49] <Motoservo> I think I can sort thought this, Stomach. I can either just update the core OR I need to figure out what widgets is installed in the lock and set the json to that. Are these two options viable?
[00:08:22] * Stomach quit (Quit: zzz)
[00:09:09] <Motoservo> Well, he split. If anybody else can comment that’d be great. And if these are two good options, which is best?

When I log in into admin panel it's not loading and JS console have 2 errors: "Enumerable is not defined" leftandmain.js, "Class is not defined" cmsmain.js. When I add ?isDev=1 to the url it loads fine and working fine after that. Anyone knows how to fix it?

[00:26:11] <Stomach_> RyanPotter - your auction has slowed to a crawl
 [00:26:19] <RyanPotter> Stomach_: Sure has :)
 [00:26:26] <antmas> link?
 [00:26:47] <RyanPotter> http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=935175676
[00:27:11] <antmas> oh man someone is going to get a steal unless it goes crazy at last minute
 [00:27:24] <RyanPotter> Pretty much.
[00:28:07] <Motoservo> Got the update to work by removing the dev from widgets and setting it back one (according to the last listed on packagist). Update ran okay but still can’t get phpunit to show up.
[00:28:15] <DanaeNZ> yay last minute accommodation booking, sweet deals
 [00:29:16] <antmas> DanaeNZ: for what?
 [00:29:18] <antmas> phpconf?
 [00:29:24] <DanaeNZ> yeeaaass
[00:29:50] <DanaeNZ> i want to go check out the Galipoli exhibit at Te Papa while I'm down there

[00:30:19] <DanaeNZ> antmas: XD Didn't even need to put my headphones in
 [00:30:24] <antmas> haha

[00:31:44] <DanaeNZ> Late night Thursday? Fucking done
[00:32:53] <Motoservo> Guessing that the reason SS isn’t installing phpunit is the same reason I can’t install phpunit directly via composer: it’s reporting that my php is 5.5.24 when it’s clearly 5.6.x. Any idea why Composer thinks my PHP is the older version?
[00:33:24] <Motoservo> Mac Ports shows it as 5.6.x and phpinfo() also reports 5.6.
[00:33:33] <chocolatemoose> is it in your path?
 [00:34:21] <chocolatemoose> do a `which php`
[00:34:25] <Motoservo> Well, that’s interesting. Ran which php and got the Mac OS’s.
[00:34:49] <Motoservo> Quite sure it *should* show opt/local (for mac ports).
[00:35:00] <Motoservo> the web server is working right.
[00:35:20] <chocolatemoose> what does your path var look like?
 [00:35:27] <Motoservo> Let me check...
[00:35:55] <Stomach_> yeah cli php and webserver php can be different
 [00:35:57] <Stomach_> :\
[00:37:24] <Motoservo> Can’t remember, with the path, is it what comes first that gets priority or what comes last?
 [00:37:31] <chocolatemoose> first
 [00:38:07] * travis-ci has joined #silverstripe

[00:38:16] <Motoservo> All my opt/local stuff is first.
[00:38:42] <Motoservo> Let me dig in and make sure php is in one of those dirs.
 [00:41:57] <Motoservo> php55 and php56 right next to each other in /opt/local/bin
[00:43:40] <Motoservo> not sure about that 55 so attempting to remove through port command.
[00:44:32] <Motoservo> It’s not showing in my port installed requested so it must be a dependency.
[00:44:47] <Motoservo> Have to dig in and figure out what’s adding it.
[00:45:09] * Stomach_ quit (Quit: zzz)
[00:46:44] <Motoservo> Guess it’s time to move this to the macports channel.
[00:47:12] <chocolatemoose> what if you try running composer by specifying the php executable?
[00:47:28] <chocolatemoose> bit more roundabout, but would work for the time being
 [00:49:59] <Motoservo> I’ll try that.
 [00:50:04] <Motoservo> Thanks, chocolatemoose

[12:28:06] <Eliseth> the error page type with code 404
[12:28:23] <wmk> afaik the module hops in a kind of "on404" extension hook

 [21:37:20] <UncleCheese> yeah i'll have to test

[21:55:57] <sminnee_> @UncleCheese I’m really struggling to see any difference in Form IDs. If there’s a change, I’d say that it’s probably a bug and would be good to raise it.
[21:56:04] <Stomach> RyanPotter I promise to not break anything too bad
[21:56:30] <RyanPotter> Stomach: Buy a laptop in the UK, sit down and check github. EVERYTHING’S ON FIRE
[21:56:36] <UncleCheese> sminnee_ will check on that, i believe Damian had raised it as an issue with display_logic, and i think willr dealt with it in userforms
 [21:56:41] <Stomach> jst some things ;)
 [21:57:31] <UncleCheese> ok, tractorcow confirms it's a 3.2 change
[21:57:47] <RyanPotter> Stomach: I really like the way shopify styles their ‘FieldGroups'
[21:57:57] <UncleCheese> "Id for the outer div, id for the input element are now calculated independetly"
 [21:58:59] <RyanPotter> UC: So fields aren’t namespaced?
[21:59:33] <sminnee_> @UncleCheese right i see. the holder ID seems to be the main diff, not the namespacing. inasmuch as the previous was HTML I guess that’s a bugfix, even if some code relied on the bug :-/
 [21:59:45] <UncleCheese> sorry, i mispoke
 [21:59:46] <UncleCheese> yeah
 [22:00:00] <UncleCheese> OLD: outerID = FieldName, innerID = FormName_FieldName, inner name property = FieldName
[22:00:23] <sminnee_> One of the issues we have with semver is that we don’t have a particularly clear “public API”, which is something we want to improve on in SS4.
 [22:00:24] <UncleCheese> NEW: outerID = FormName_FieldName_Holder, innerID = FormName_FieldName_ID, inner name property = FieldName
[22:00:35] <sminnee_> Stuff like “which IDs and classes should you rely on?”
[22:00:42] <UncleCheese> do you reckon CSS is a public API? hmm
 [22:00:47] <UncleCheese> i suppose it is
 [22:00:51] <sminnee_> A subset of it, I’d expect.
[22:01:18] <sminnee_> *which* subset will be… an interesting discussion
[22:01:37] <UncleCheese> true... but if you apply that standard, then HTML is an API, too
[22:01:37] <zippy> just means you have to release the major versions more often...
[22:02:05] <sminnee_> That’s not really a solution, though, and this is what frustrates me about that counterpoint.
[22:02:16] <sminnee_> Let’s say you release stable releases every 6 months...
[22:02:32] <sminnee_> Then either you’re dropping support for releases after 12-18 months, forcing major upgrades
[22:02:43] <sminnee_> or you’re supporting a huge number of major lines in parallel
[22:02:51] <RyanPotter> Stomach: like this, if that makes sense: http://i.imgur.com/ogIUCRP.jpg

[22:03:04] <zippy> what if it was 1 year though?
[22:03:15] <sminnee_> And, given the point of a major release is that the upgrade is more difficult, you’re just causing peopele an upgrade hassle every 12-18 months
[22:03:17] <zippy> that way it's 2~ years before having to upgrade
[22:03:20] <sminnee_> yeah, annual is where we’d like to get to
 [22:03:30] <Stomach> RyanPotter ah yep :D
[22:03:33] <UncleCheese> i get that.. how are other semver'ed frameworks managing?
[22:03:33] <zippy> but if there are more frequent major updates there would be less breaking changes..
[22:03:55] <UncleCheese> how many supported versions of symfony are there now, i wonder
[22:04:03] <sminnee_> A lot of people still chafe at the idea of their feature needing to wait a year to be in users’ hands :p

[22:04:34] <sminnee_> I expect that annual major releases, and regular alpha releases off master between them, will be where we end up

[23:45:23] <RyanPotter> terryapodaca: If they’re all going to be different, then doing a check is pointless. You may as well just serve a static template.
[23:45:48] <mahfuz> RyanPotter: instead of putting the template in Layout folder we can put it in templates folder with the PageName.ss containing different structurce (header, footer), right?
 [23:45:56] <RyanPotter> mahfuz: yup
[23:46:39] <mahfuz> Thanks RyanPotter and teryapodaca
[23:46:43] <terryapodaca> if the site is going to be so static, why even use the CMS?
 [23:46:56] <terryapodaca> lol

[23:47:08] <RyanPotter> terryapodaca: I mean serve the template for that ClassName, not actually static.
[23:47:20] <RyanPotter> just adds more complexity to the template otherwise.
[23:47:32] <RyanPotter> If the header/footer is completely different for thoser pages.
[23:47:50] <RyanPotter> if it was just cosmetic, I would just send a class to the section container.
 [23:48:06] <RyanPotter> .footer-primary, .footer-secondary etc.
[23:48:30] <terryapodaca> good point, then show/hide the differences
[23:48:36] <mahfuz> Thanks RyanPotter for your ideas
[23:48:51] <terryapodaca> we had similar ideas...
[23:49:27] <mahfuz> Thanks to terryapodaca too...
[23:49:37] <terryapodaca> mine was just the longer version...LOL
 [23:49:42] <terryapodaca> np mahfuz
[23:49:58] <RyanPotter> My rule of thumb is to keep as much complexity out of templates as possible.
[23:50:09] <RyanPotter> helps with being able to re-use them
[23:50:23] <RyanPotter> send them the same variable names from your controller etc.
[23:55:03] <Colin[pi]> fuck I hate when you take a browser screen grab and then derp out by trying to click it in photoshop
[23:55:13] <Colin[pi]> derp derp IT NO WERKIN
