[01:17:54] <Hailwood> What's the deal with silverstripe blog removing the Title and MenuTitle Fields?
[01:32:24] * Azure quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[01:33:03] <Hailwood> Seriously it doesn't add them back in anywhere, so if I make a typo I cannot change my title?
[01:37:43] * veb quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[01:38:47] * DimiStripe quit (Quit: DimiStripe)

[02:21:26] <samlander> Hailwood: you can easily add those fields back in
[02:22:00] <samlander> just go into the code folder and find blog.php and add what's missing to the getcmsfields function
[02:35:49] * UncleCheese quit (Quit: Textual IRC Client: www.textualapp.com)
 [02:37:29] * UncleCheese has joined #silverstripe
[02:39:37] <Hailwood> samlander, Ended up being a bit more complex, basically another extension was conflicting with what the blog was doing with some rather awkward code. Hmm, If I have an extension applied to "Page" can I "unapply" the extension to a specific page type?
 [02:50:04] <samlander> im not certain
[02:50:37] <samlander> any add ins i've every used extend page, not change it
[02:54:23] <Hailwood> samlander, Effectively I have an extension that simply changes the "Page Name" field to "Primary Heading" on all pages, so we apply the extension to Page. But of course BlogPost extends Page, so gets the title changed as well, after it's already been changed.
[02:54:57] <Hailwood> In this case I can just check if the title is "Page Name" before I switch it, but as a general rule, an extension you want on 99% of pages, when 100% extend Page how do you do it?
[02:55:23] <Hailwood> Do I need a line to apply the extension to every Page type except the one I don't want?

 [05:24:51] <PenguinMan98> Hey guys
[05:25:28] <PenguinMan98> I noticed that sometimes the bundled .ss templates with plugins need some tweaking to make them right
[05:25:42] <PenguinMan98> In this case the photogallery plugin
[05:26:07] <PenguinMan98> I thought to add a .ss template copy in my themes/theme/Layouts folder
[05:26:22] <PenguinMan98> But that doesnt' seem to work even after a dev/build?flush
[05:26:46] <ss23> Saw an ad that said "Radio for sale, $1, volume stuck on full".
 [05:26:47] <ss23> I thought "I can't turn that down"
[05:26:49] <PenguinMan98> If I just tweak the file in the plugin, git hates me for it
 [05:27:04] <PenguinMan98> ss23: Pffft.
[05:28:00] <PenguinMan98> what are my options?
 [05:28:18] <ss23> I'm not sure sorry :(
 [05:30:14] <PenguinMan98> no worries. Anybody?
[05:35:21] <PenguinMan98> If I can't figure out a better way, I think I'll just copy the plugin into a new folder and remove it from the composer.
[05:38:25] * Motoservo quit (Quit: Shhh. I'm trying to get some sleep here.)
[05:48:28] <PenguinMan98> That way I don't accidentally blow my changes away with a composer update

[22:39:40] <Motoservo> Anybody know if an empty string for the db password should work on setting up _ss_environment.php? Seems that’s how it’s listed in the example given and, like a lot of devs, I don’t use a password on my dev db… so, left that with an empty string but I’m getting an alert.
[23:08:18] <Motoservo> Well, that wasn’t it. I added a password for that user to the db and confirmed a successful login to the db before adding the same pw to the _ss_environment.php file but I’m still getting the error: Fatal error: SS_DATABASE_PASSWORD must be defined in your _ss_environment.php.See http:

[23:19:31] <Motoservo> Nevermind. i was following the instructions to the “t” and so didn’t realize I needed the ?php tags.
 [23:20:01] <Motoservo> <?php
[23:36:35] <Motoservo> And other issues from following the instructions litterally…
[23:36:59] <Motoservo> $database = ‘(database)’; created a new database with parens on the name.
[23:37:30] <Motoservo> And the site was visually reset back to like a fresh install.
[23:37:59] <Motoservo> Removed the parens (the old database is still there) but now it’s throwing errors. Will keep digging.
[23:38:28] <Motoservo> I think that instruction page needs clarification. That’s two people in two days with the same issue.
[23:50:21] <Motoservo> Okay, back up. For whatever reason I didn’t realize the first param on date() needed to a string so I passed Y. Oddly though, yesterday when I added this to my controller, it worked. All I’ve done today is install sake and setup the enviroment and now it decided to fail.
