[08:04:47] <Audlex> hey guys i am having issues with accessing the Uploads folder on two different sites on two different servers and I have no clue why. it has no error other than Internal Server Error and permissions is set to 777
[08:05:00] <Audlex> has anyone heard of anything like this? it is only the Uploads folder
 [08:05:12] <Snowman23> Check your logs! :O
[08:08:11] <Audlex> there is no reference in ss generated errors logs or server
[08:09:00] <Snowman23> If you get a server error, there should be logs somewhere
 [08:09:57] <Audlex> noted, i will look deeper

[08:16:29] <Audlex> any thoughts or direction? this error is driving me up the wall

[12:02:11] <zfmf> he guys, if i'm writing $Fields.dataFieldByName(SecurityID) Security ID is send with the post but phpstorm is giving a warning that it should be $Fields.dataFieldByName($SecurityID), but so SecurityId is not send with the post
[12:02:21] <zfmf> in both cases security id is added to the html
[12:19:38] <Zauberfisch> zfmf: no, I think phpstorm is giving you a warning that it should be $Fields.dataFieldByName('SecurityID')
[12:20:02] <Zauberfisch> zfmf: however, to rules on template syntax or the best practice of it are not exactly clear
 [12:20:15] <Zauberfisch> $Fields.dataFieldByName(SecurityID) and $Fields.dataFieldByName('SecurityID') are both valid
[12:20:38] <Zauberfisch> since SecurityID will be cased to a string by the engine, $Fields.dataFieldByName(SecurityID) sounds more natural

[21:03:14] <matt-in-a-hat> Hi there, I'm using the DataObject $api_access feature, which was previously returning results, but now it gives me the totalSize but no items, any ideas why?
 [21:04:06] * Stomach has joined #silverstripe
[21:06:02] <MichalKleiner> have you updated some module/cms to newer version in the meantime? or what has changed in your setup?
 [21:06:58] * novaweb has joined #silverstripe
[21:08:51] <matt-in-a-hat> Not that I'm aware of, I even tried going back to a commit that was working and re-building, and reloaded from an sspak from before adding the feature, but still not working. I'll have a quick look if composer dependencies have changed recently, but I don't think so.
 [21:20:02] * Ryan-Toast quit (Quit: Ryan-Toast)
[21:24:52] <matt-in-a-hat> Nope, dependencies haven't changed. I also noticed that filtering by query params e.g. ?MyProperty=23 wasn't working at all (back when the api WAS giving result objects)

[21:26:54] <Olliepop> Hey does anyone know who was contracted to build http://www.lawa.org.nz/ ? It's quite nice

 [21:33:02] <mobiusnz> Olliepop: probably no-one here given it's a ASP/AngularJS build

[21:48:17] <Olliepop> The front-end is quite nice then, haha
[21:50:16] <Olliepop> Interesting that it lets you pan out of NZ though, considering there's a maxBounds option on that map library

[23:02:19] <origincube> hey guys, so I feel like an idiot for not knowing why this isn't working. But i have a getPageByTitle function in my page class, and i'm attempting to insert a link to a specific page by its title within my theme layout, but for some reason its just not working :/
[23:06:39] * mobiusnz quit (Quit: Leaving.)
[23:07:27] <MichalKleiner> is it calling the function at all or is it not finding the page or the template is being broken completely?
[23:07:37] <MichalKleiner> can you pastebin your code?
[23:07:42] * Stomach quit (Quit: zzz)
 [23:08:00] <MichalKleiner> or sspaste.com
[23:08:24] <origincube> yeah will do so now
 [23:10:50] <origincube> http://sspaste.com/paste/show/5497537f3bb9a
[23:11:38] <origincube> i though to try call getPageByTitle within the HomePage.php in a function that has the page title hardcoded, but that then throws an exception saying undefined function
 [23:11:42] <origincube> O.o
[23:12:12] <origincube> i also tried to just say with PageByTitle("...") but that then tells me i have a missing argument
[23:13:36] <MichalKleiner> and does HomePage extend Page?
 [23:13:42] <origincube> yes
 [23:14:55] * gelignite quit (Quit: http://bit.ly/nkczDT)
[23:15:08] <MichalKleiner> does it have to go into the controller class?
 [23:15:46] <origincube> not sure
 [23:15:50] <MichalKleiner> I think so..
[23:15:52] <MichalKleiner> try to put it there
[23:16:30] <origincube> ok, will move it to the PageController
 [23:16:31] <MichalKleiner> class Page_Controller extends ContentController { ...
 [23:16:35] <MichalKleiner> yep
[23:16:42] <origincube> and then leave the theme as is?
 [23:16:46] <MichalKleiner> yep
[23:18:09] <origincube> gives me that missing argument error
 [23:19:07] <simon_w> origincube, you need to use $getPageByTitle(' ')
 [23:19:40] <origincube> so i'm missing the $
[23:19:59] <MichalKleiner> simon_w and should the method be in the controller class or will it work in the page class as well?
 [23:20:16] <simon_w> MichalKleiner, either works
[23:20:45] <MichalKleiner> is either of those a preferred way? from the philosophical point of view?
 [23:21:23] <MichalKleiner> *is any of*
[23:22:08] <origincube> awesome thanks. its working now.
[23:24:29] <origincube> ok so i have another interesting question, so i have a page with a bunch of child pages (each of while will be representing a collection of articles for a specific month)
[23:25:03] <origincube> if i'm looping through the children, is there any quick way to filter to a specific child pages on its title relative to the current month and year?
[23:26:07] <MichalKleiner> I'd say write another getSomethingByParams method and use that to filter children of the page
[23:26:52] <origincube> and then just use a standard datetime object representing "now"

[23:38:34] <Olliepop> Is there any SilverStripe native way to perform a sequence of ORM writes, where if one fails the previous ones are reverted?
[23:38:48] <Olliepop> Like ACID database transactions
 [23:42:40] <simon_w> Olliepop, use a transaction
 [23:43:18] * Ryan-Toast has joined #silverstripe
 [23:43:50] <simon_w> Olliepop, DB::getConn()->transactionStart(), transactionCommit() and transactionRollback()
 [23:45:21] <Olliepop> Thanks @simon_w
 [23:49:16] * spronk2 quit (Quit: I may need a longer sleep timer...)
[23:49:38] <Olliepop> Anyone here running MariaDB with SilverStripe? :)
 [23:57:17] <MichalKleiner> yep, locally
 [23:57:35] * origincube has left #silverstripe
[23:57:51] <Olliepop> Nice, any gotchas or all smooth?
 [23:58:08] <MichalKleiner> haven't notice anything..
[23:58:48] <Olliepop> Sweet. We're considering making the switch for all future projects
