[00:45:37] <steve_c> yes, the changes show up in the db
[00:45:55] <simon_w|work> After the way the government has been acting wrt Muslims, I'm surprised it took this long
[00:45:58] <steve_c> flushed the sitemap but no change
 [00:46:02] <simon_w|work> steve_c, so, in the SiteTree_Live table?

[01:39:07] <Selay> Hi guys, a quick question. When uploading an image to embed inside the page content, it doesnt allow choosing folder in edit. How can it be enabled so that user can select where the image will be uploaded. http://userhelp.silverstripe.org//src/framework_3.1/docs/en/for-website-content-editors/_images/embedding-media-embed.jpg
[01:39:25] * Cheddam quit (Quit: My MacBook Pro has gone to sleep. ZZZzzz…)
[01:40:42] <Selay> maybe this illustrates the problem better http://userhelp.silverstripe.org//src/framework_3.1/docs/en/for-website-content-editors/_images/image-details.jpg There is no field to choose upload folder.
[01:51:49] <Tanger> Selay: I haven't really looked at it, but take a look at this: https://github.com/silverstripe-labs/silverstripe-selectupload

 [02:01:32] <antmas> is myclass:disabled still used?
 [02:03:25] <antmas> wait
 [02:03:29] <antmas> it is
 [02:03:30] <antmas> :P
[02:04:32] <Selay> @Tanger, but when you embed inside content, you dont really have a upload field created by yourself. It is the picture button in tinymce
 [02:04:43] <Selay> http://userhelp.silverstripe.org//src/framework_3.1/docs/en/for-website-content-editors/_images/insert-link-file.jpg
 [02:05:10] <Selay> @Tanger, sorry this one http://userhelp.silverstripe.org//src/framework_3.1/docs/en/for-website-content-editors/_images/insert-images-2.jpg
[02:07:30] <Tanger> Selay: Ahhh, right. Well, perhaps it's something that needs to be written!
[02:07:54] <Tanger> I think the HtmlEditorField_Toolbar class is what SS uses for the TinyMCE upload form
[02:10:53] <Selay> @Tanger Thank you. I will have a look to see if it is easy to do. Currently you can change folder in Files. But is not convenient to go to Files and then back to Pages.

[02:50:04] <mahfuz> which function should I use to put the code to check whether the user is logged in or not then either forward to some other page or show the page?
[02:50:28] <zippy> Kingy: hows it going
[02:50:37] <novaweb> mahfuz, what you want do?
 [02:50:39] <Kingy> good mate

[02:53:48] <mahfuz> So which function in the page should I use to put the code?
[02:53:59] <mahfuz> is it init() or handleAction() ?
 [02:54:05] <novaweb> init
[02:54:20] <novaweb> call the function from init
[02:54:24] <spronk2> can anyone recommend a phone repairer who does nexus 5s and screens? :p
 [02:54:30] <novaweb> self::checkMemberState();
 [02:54:33] <novaweb> etc
[02:54:35] <muskie9> mahfuz novaweb, why not use the CMS setting... would handle it for ya
 [02:54:46] <novaweb> yeah I was thinking that...
[02:54:56] <mahfuz> in init() where should I call the parent's init() function , in the beginning or at the end?
[02:55:09] <novaweb> right at the start
[02:57:02] <mahfuz> Thanks novaweb and the settings property in the CMS can also be used. I forgot about that. Thanks
 [02:57:10] <novaweb> cool

 [03:26:52] <wracu> DB query? do->write()?

[06:56:12] <Zauberfisch> but beware: in the next silverstripe release there is probably a patch include which will only consider a dropdown valid if it contains one of the values that have been set in php. that means if you dynamicly add values via javascript to dropdowns and php does not know about those values, it will tell the user that the selected option in the dropdown is not valid

 [11:13:56] <Snowman23> or w/e it is
[11:14:02] <Snowman23> I think there's a nicer way to do it so DI works
[11:14:04] <Snowman23> Someone else might know
 [11:15:50] <Guits> But what controller?
[11:16:27] <Zauberfisch> Guits: really depends on what that function is that all dataobject should have
[11:16:32] <Guits> i have different DO classes that all extends DataObject
 [11:16:35] * Eliseth has joined #silverstripe
 [11:17:50] <Guits> This is a general question
 [11:18:09] <Snowman23> Generally, it depends
[11:21:26] <Zauberfisch> sometimes its a good fit for SiteConfig
 [11:21:44] <Zauberfisch> like a global configuration
[11:22:09] <Zauberfisch> sometimes it warrants its own class and a singelton / single instance (eg like the Config::inst() )
[11:22:49] <Zauberfisch> or perhaps a static method on some class that you can call from everywhere. you can also make static methods available in templates with the GolbalTemplateProvider interface
 [11:22:50] <Guits> I figured it out with class DataObjectExtention extends DataExtension {
[11:23:24] <Zauberfisch> yes, DataExtension is another way

[13:28:47] <Pyvrdk> Zauberfisch: KaraokeFX it would be possible with the postrequest hook
[13:29:33] <Pyvrdk> read the body, parse it, modify (clean) it, parse to json, reassign to output body.
[13:29:46] <Pyvrdk> but it seems like much more trouble than it's worth.
[13:30:46] <KaraokeFX> yeah was more about 'getting to know more about ss' than something important right now
[13:31:10] <Pyvrdk> there are prerequest and post request hooks, can do all sorts with them.
[13:31:17] <Pyvrdk> but... very low level.

[14:10:44] <Eliseth> THe problem does not occur locally (PHP / Apache)
[14:13:45] <Pyvrdk> yeah, easy to see why
 [14:15:23] <Eliseth> ?
 [14:15:37] <Pyvrdk> very obvious.
 [14:15:51] <Pyvrdk> Answer starts with a C, ends with an I
[14:15:54] <Eliseth> well, the CLI has no way of knowing the host, since there is none
 [14:15:58] <Pyvrdk> exactly
[14:16:17] <Pyvrdk> suggest it might have something to do with HHVM configuration or something then.

[20:28:36] <antmas> yeah we're looking at something slightly cheaper than what we can afford with the hopes that to raise value quickly would be to do bathroom and kitchen
[20:28:41] <JeremyRoundill> Which is flipping huge.

 [20:29:20] <JeremyRoundill> I don't think so

[20:35:06] <zippy> JeremyRoundill: If I use https://www.sorted.org.nz/calculators/savings and turn off inflation adjustment. Then have $1 for 30 years it comes out at $6 rounded.

 [20:37:00] * veb :-D
[20:37:05] <JeremyRoundill> That's just the cost with inflation accounted

 [20:37:15] <antmas> WE DON'T NEED Kingy[a]
 [20:37:16] <antmas> :D
[20:37:39] <JeremyRoundill> zippy, Usually you just predict it will be 3-4%, because it tends to sit around that, and we don't need to be super accurate. :P
 [20:37:48] <JeremyRoundill> Real = inflation accounted
 [20:37:57] <JeremyRoundill> Nominal = the number amount
[20:38:08] <JeremyRoundill> So the real cost is the cost in 2014 dollars.

[20:42:30] <JeremyRoundill> antmas, The nominal value is usually pretty easy to work out.
 [20:42:48] <JeremyRoundill> So, you have a $100k mortgage for 25 years at 4% interest.
 [20:42:56] <JeremyRoundill> That's 100k * 1.04^25
 [20:43:20] <antmas> yup I get that
[20:43:30] <JeremyRoundill> And if you want to take into account inflation, pretty much subtract a bit from the interest rate.

 [20:43:38] <JeremyRoundill> Yup

[20:44:10] <JeremyRoundill> And because the guess isn't accurate anyway, you don't even have to do the math properly.
[20:44:24] <JeremyRoundill> So at 3% inflation, you can just subtract that from your interest rate pretty much.
 [20:44:40] * Shrike_Finland has joined #silverstripe
[20:44:42] <zippy> your guessing the interest rate in a sense as well, as it could be between 5 and 6.5
[20:44:43] <antmas> is all this the simple way of figuring out what you will pay in total over 30 years?
 [20:44:45] <JeremyRoundill> So the equation becomes 100k * 1.01^25
 [20:44:55] <JeremyRoundill> Nah
[20:44:56] <zippy> antmas: use an online calculator :)
[20:45:13] <JeremyRoundill> The amount you'll pay over 30 years is the nominal amount.
[20:45:32] <JeremyRoundill> But you just have to remember that $100k now is going to be worth more than $100k in 30 years
[20:46:04] <JeremyRoundill> The rbnz has a good calculator for historical inflation
