 [20:33:57] <Ryan-Toast> wow
 [20:34:10] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: Just a little bit.
[20:35:20] <zippy__> Ryan-Toast: What reset do you use, and/or do you use a flexi/fluid grid css for sites?
[20:35:41] <Ryan-Toast> normalise, and I use bootstrap 80% of the time
[20:35:50] <Ryan-Toast> depends on the design I'm working with though.
 [20:36:00] <Ryan-Toast> always normalise, though.
 [20:40:15] <zippy__> ah yeap
 [20:40:22] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: http://necolas.github.io/normalize.css/
 [20:40:34] <zippy__> Chairs
[20:41:02] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: Yeah, when using a grid it's always about using the right tool for the job.
[20:41:17] <Ryan-Toast> sometimes fluid is what you need, sometimes fixed; sometimes roll your own.
[20:41:54] <Ryan-Toast> If you're not familiar with grid based techniques study how the mobile first frameworks work, and emulate them.
[20:42:52] <Ryan-Toast> It's the most performant, albeit the least browser supported. You will most likely need to use a shiv i.e https://github.com/scottjehl/Respond
 [20:43:11] * Stomach has joined #silverstripe
 [20:43:58] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: You can see that I use respond for IE8 - Line 52: https://github.com/Rhym/ss_boilerplate/blob/master/Boilerplate/code/extensions/PageExtension.php
[20:44:20] <zippy__> Ryan-Toast: Thanks :) The design is fixed so will just be a fixed at this point I think, so that is more of a general question, but will normize for sure
 [20:44:30] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: Coolio :)
[20:44:57] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: You really should explain the benefit of going responsive now to your client however.
[20:47:04] <zippy__> yea, I am doing it for someone else (outsourced to me) so don't have access to the client
 [20:48:08] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: Ah, sweet as :)
 [20:49:08] <simon_w> Ryan-Toast, blood test
[20:49:41] <Ryan-Toast> zippy__: Always a good idea to add this after normalise: http://www.sspaste.com/paste/show/531395ee739a1
 [20:49:52] <Ryan-Toast> you don't have to, but it's handy.
[20:50:05] <Ryan-Toast> simon_w: Ah, right :P Hopeflly they got it first go.
[20:50:16] <simon_w> Nope. Had to use both arms.
[20:50:36] <zippy__> simon_w: fun times, I think it "hurts" more when they pull the needle out
[20:50:39] <Ryan-Toast> simon_w: Guts. I had to do that the other day, because the nurse ruptured my blood vessel.
[20:50:58] <simon_w> zippy__, it hurts more the second time they stick the needle in :p
 [20:52:31] <zippy__> :)
 [20:52:32] <zippy__> I bet
[20:53:00] <simon_w> Pulling it out was fine

[21:16:43] <gurubobnz> I'm using SS 2.4 (old site) - can someone help me with a quick SS thing - I don't know how to get a template to render with a full page layout from a controller. return $this was suggested to work but it doesn't for me.
[21:17:46] <simon_w> gurubobnz, is this in an action method?
 [21:19:53] <gurubobnz> simon_w: it's basically just a "thanks" page - so I have a controller with a thanks method
 [21:20:25] <simon_w> gurubobnz, well, then you should just be able to return array();
[21:21:22] <gurubobnz> Ok so that gives me the content of the template which is great but I need the content wrapped in a page layout.
 [21:21:49] <simon_w> gurubobnz, I'm guessing it's using something like Page_thanks.ss?
 [21:23:32] <gurubobnz> simon_w: yes, that's right
[21:23:43] <simon_w> gurubobnz, put that in the Layout folder
[21:25:11] <gurubobnz> simon_w: still just the content of the template which is literally "thanks" right now - I need it to be rendered inside Page.ss
 [21:25:24] <gurubobnz> simon_w: I have learnt a lot about SS this morning ;)
[21:25:32] <simon_w> gurubobnz, and your controller subclasses (or is) Page_Controller?
[21:26:06] <gurubobnz> simon_w: yes ... actually hang on, let me check something ...

[21:54:55] <simon_w> Then the Drupal guys can be all "Lolz, SS isn't secure" :p
[21:55:08] <ss23> Relatedly, there's already HtmlEditorField::$sanitise_server_side in 3.1 for turning on sanitising of HTML coming through HtmlEditorFields, although it's off by default (and to make it _really_ secure you need to replace the default HtmlEditorSanitiser implementation with https://github.com/silverstripe-labs/silverstripe-htmlpurifier). Doesn't affect ExtraMeta though, since that uses a textarea field.
 [21:55:14] <ss23> aha
[21:56:21] <ss23> simon_w: So there you are. By default it doesn't filter, but you can turn it on if you want
[21:56:27] <simon_w> ss23, also doesn't help much when you get people going and changing [extend_]valid_elements to *[*]
