[04:40:00] <Error404NotFound> For each release there is a different download url: http://www.silverstripe.org/assets/releases/SilverStripe-cms-vDD.DD.DD.tar.gz . Is there a static url too like: http://www.silverstripe.org/assets/releases/latest/tar.gz ?
[04:42:00] <simon_w> Ooh, I made one of those
 [04:42:00] <simon_w> ss.org.nz/latest
 [04:43:00] <simon_w> Well, that's silly
[04:43:00] <Error404NotFound> DNS Resolution Error, CloudFlare.
 [04:45:00] <simon_w> Oh, I know what's happened
[04:46:00] <simon_w> Okay, it'll work within an hour
[04:47:00] <simon_w> (or when you flush your DNS cache)
[04:50:00] <Error404NotFound> gonna wait. Tried with opendns and google's, both still shown same output as before.
[04:55:00] <Error404NotFound> onre: you are here too? :P
[04:55:00] <Error404NotFound> tried via vpn, works. Awesome.

[06:06:00] <Error404NotFound> I am trying to automate SS installs on my own client sites. Problem? How do i counter with _config.php changes? I had a script for _config.php(3.0.2) with $databaseConfig while latest(3.0.5) uses $database. One way would be to grep for "$database" and then sed that with credentials.
 [06:12:00] <simon_w> Error404NotFound, http://doc.silverstripe.org/framework/en/topics/environment-management
 [06:12:00] <simon_w> Nope
[06:12:00] <Error404NotFound> simon_w: won't that apply globally to all sites under same user?
[06:13:00] <Error404NotFound> awesome, never knew that. I always though _ss_environment would be applied globally.
[06:13:00] <simon_w> Stops at the first _ss_environment.php it finds
[06:13:00] <Error404NotFound> hmm, so i create create a local __ss_env for each site
[06:13:00] <simon_w> and then you'll want something like define('SS_DATABASE_CHOOSE_NAME', 2) (or maybe 3), which names the database, if not set, the same as the enclosing folder
[06:13:00] <simon_w> If they all use the same database user, then you can just have the one

[11:05:00] <Error404NotFound> is there a quick way to enable output to be sent to stdout for sake? I am trying sake dev/build but database doesn't get built.
[11:07:00] <Zauberfisch> Error404NotFound how are you running sake?
 [11:07:00] <Zauberfisch> from console?
 [11:07:00] <Error404NotFound> Zauberfisch: ./framework/sake
[11:08:00] <Zauberfisch> Error404NotFound could it be that you have display errors and error reporting off?
[11:08:00] <Zauberfisch> so maybe it fails but fails silent
[11:08:00] <Zauberfisch> that should echo the output anyway
 [11:08:00] <Error404NotFound> Zauberfisch: yup
 [11:08:00] <Error404NotFound> Zauberfisch: doesn't. :(
 [11:08:00] <Error404NotFound> Tried php cli-script.php dev/build, same.
[11:08:00] <Error404NotFound> Also tried with "flush=1", though that doesn't matter, not in this case.
 [11:09:00] <Error404NotFound> error_reporting => 32767, display_errors => STDOUT . Extracted using php -i | grep
[11:09:00] <Zauberfisch> please note that the apache php and the cli php have different php.ini files
[11:09:00] <Error404NotFound> so, no, thats not the issue, i think.
 [11:10:00] <Error404NotFound> hmmm
[11:10:00] <Error404NotFound> ok, gonna axe it now, lets see if i can get it to output something
 [11:10:00] <Zauberfisch> hmmm
 [11:10:00] <Zauberfisch> no idea then
 [11:10:00] <Zauberfisch> sorr<y
[11:12:00] <Error404NotFound> added "set -x" to sake. Sake seems find. cli-script should output, but it isn't doing that. gonna operate on that.
[11:14:00] <Error404NotFound> there it goes, fixed it.
[11:20:00] * zfmf quit (Read error: No route to host)
[11:24:00] <Error404NotFound> Ok, my automated deployments script is almost ready. Only remaining part is about user credentials. Right now i use: Security::setDefaultAdmin("admin","randomPasswordHere"); Is there a better way e.g. create MemberPassword record with a specific string?
 [11:24:00] * ^pH- has joined #silverstripe
 [11:27:00] <Error404NotFound> http://example.com/dev/build?username=admin&password=password this is awesome :)

[12:07:00] <Marvanni> Does SS 3 provide a way to use an alternate Sorting for a ccertain PageTypes in the CMS SiteTree Menu. Like PublishDate
 [12:07:00] * Shrike_Finland1 has joined #silverstripe
[12:07:00] * Shrike_Finland quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[12:08:00] <wmk> Marvanni, afaik not out of the box for the menu
 [12:09:00] <wmk> you could overwrite $myPage->getChildren()
[12:10:00] <Zauberfisch> stageChildren() can be found in class Hierachy
[12:10:00] <Marvanni> ok thanks, will try that...
[12:10:00] <Zauberfisch> Children(), allChildren(), ... and so on all use the stageChildren() method
[12:10:00] <Zauberfisch> Marvanni you have to overwrite the methods stageChildren()
 [12:11:00] <wmk> there is a static $default_sort in SiteTree
[12:11:00] <Marvanni> Zauberfisch do you get outside now and then? ;) Your always around :)
[12:12:00] <Zauberfisch> Marvanni I do go outside, if I absolutely have to, like buy food
 [12:12:00] <wmk> maybe this helps.
[12:12:00] <Zauberfisch> as of 3.1 stageChildren() returns a DataList, before that it returned an ArrayList
[12:12:00] <Marvanni> yeah, but I only need to have an alternate sort on a ArticlePage type
 [12:12:00] <wmk> cms/code/model/SiteTree.php
[12:13:00] <wmk> Zauberfisch, food sounds good
[12:13:00] <wmk> Marvanni, does the parent container only conain theese page type?
 [12:14:00] <Marvanni> hehe
[12:14:00] <Zauberfisch> and of course there is the 10 minute walk between home and work (:
[12:15:00] <Marvanni> Yes, at least I hope. I use $allowed_children, but still all the pagetypes show up when I create a new Page under it
[12:16:00] * priithansen quit (Quit: priithansen)
[12:18:00] <wmk> hmm, Hierarchy class (which provides stageChildren) provides an "augmentStageChildren" hook
[12:19:00] <Zauberfisch> but this way I think you can not attach the code to a single class
[12:20:00] <Zauberfisch> you would add it to all page types
 [12:21:00] <wmk> Zauberfisch, i guess not
 [12:21:00] <wmk> $this->owner->extend("augmentStageChildren", $staged, $showAll);
 [12:22:00] <Zauberfisch> the pagetype
[12:22:00] <wmk> who is the owner: SiteTree or the PageType ??
[12:23:00] <Zauberfisch> you can of course do if ($this->owner->ClassName == 'MyPageType')
 [12:23:00] <wmk> it's a dataobject / dataquery thingie
 [12:23:00] <wmk> but i bet $default_sort would be enough
[12:27:00] <Error404NotFound> mysql>truncate Member; truncate MemberPassword; , $ framework/sake "dev/build" "username=admin&password=password"; This should build database while creating a new member with the name admin and password: passowrd.
 [12:46:00] * priithansen has joined #silverstripe
 [12:49:00] <Error404NotFound> my mistake :)
 [12:49:00] <Error404NotFound> its db/build
[12:59:00] <Marvanni> see SiteTree::requireDefaultRecords(); that creates the ErrorPages on dev/build
 [12:59:00] <Marvanni> requireDefaultRecords();

 [14:01:00] <Zauberfisch> Error404NotFound db/build?
 [14:02:00] <Zauberfisch> i thought that was deprecated with 2.4
[14:02:00] <Error404NotFound> hmmm, ya, must have read in in some really old blog post.
[14:03:00] <Error404NotFound> Here is what i am trying to do: Create and setup password for the initial user, inside db. One way was to use Security::setDefaultAdmin but that seems bit ugly. Another would be to create a user with password encryption set to none and put blank password in db, which sucks too.
[14:04:00] <Error404NotFound> Zauberfisch: tried, doesn't get me desired results.
[14:04:00] <Zauberfisch> another way is to set it in _ss_environment.php
[14:04:00] <Zauberfisch> have you tried it with devd/build?
 [14:04:00] <Zauberfisch> Error404NotFound db/build was replaced by dev/build
[14:04:00] <Zauberfisch> but thats on the same level as Secirty::setDefaultAdmin()
 [14:04:00] <Error404NotFound> ./framework/sake dev/build "username=test&password=password"
 [14:04:00] <Zauberfisch> hmmm
[14:04:00] <Error404NotFound> I am trying it with sake
[14:05:00] <Error404NotFound> Zauberfisch: ya, which i would like to avoid.
 [14:07:00] <Zauberfisch> i don't know any other method
[14:10:00] <Zauberfisch> well, I guess you have to just run a db query to insert the password
[14:11:00] <Zauberfisch> mysql has sha1 support, you can put the plain password into the query and let mysql encrypt it
 [14:14:00] <Error404NotFound> hmmm

 [21:29:00] <simon_w> Nope
 [21:29:00] <Pyromanik> k
 [21:30:00] <ss23> c5 is <3 for that
[21:30:00] <ss23> The more I use silverstripe, the more I hate that templates aren't in PHP
 [21:33:00] <ss23> Cause I just got strawmanned.
[21:33:00] <Pyromanik> yeah, pity about the rest of it
[21:33:00] <simon_w> Yeah, it really sucks that you don't have to check for null when chaining, or don't have to manually escape things, or know if the method returns a string or object
[21:33:00] <ss23> Wow, someone needs to put me in a field
[21:34:00] <ss23> Fucking worst class ever
 [21:34:00] <Pyromanik> rofls, high five.
[21:34:00] <ss23> hahah Pyromanik, you know I did
 [21:34:00] <ss23> Pyromanik: true that
[21:34:00] <Pyromanik> did you take critical reasoning at waikato too?
[21:35:00] <Pyromanik> I don't remember much other than that she commanded attention and was really really good at making people feel awkward
[21:35:00] <Pyromanik> the same bossy woman taking it?
[21:36:00] <ss23> tbh though, she wasn't too bad
[21:36:00] <ss23> The content was just stupid
[21:36:00] <ss23> An entire class learning stuff that's 0% applicable to RL
[21:36:00] <ss23> Like when you're trying to actualyl decide shit IRL, you're going to be like "Guys... guys. STop. Lets sit down and reconstruct their argument, that'll lead us to the best conclusion!"
[21:36:00] <ss23> Tracey was her name, can't remember last name
[21:36:00] <ss23> One bossy woman, one meek person
[21:36:00] <ss23> Pyromanik: Did she make you buy her textbook?
 [21:38:00] * mobiusnz has joined #silverstripe
[21:39:00] <Pyromanik> so long as you did as told :P
[21:39:00] <ss23> At least it was really easy
 [21:39:00] <ss23> A+ in that class
[21:39:00] <Pyromanik> and it is applicable to RL
 [21:39:00] <ss23> sif
[21:39:00] <Pyromanik> Come across that shit every single day in Business.
 [21:39:00] <ss23> lol
[21:39:00] <Pyromanik> yeah, I enjoyed the class, I didn't find her too bad
[21:39:00] <Pyromanik> ss23: if she wrote the text book then yes, chances are it's the same lady.
[21:40:00] <Pyromanik> the class is bascially "Sales 101"
 [21:40:00] <ss23> oh, haha, yes
[21:40:00] <Pyromanik> aka "How to decide if someone is full of shit"
 [21:40:00] <ss23> :D
[21:40:00] <ss23> Only applicable thing -- "Don't do this, this is how you mislead people!" was great examples of how to effectivly mislead people
[21:41:00] <ss23> If you needed that class to learn if someone was full of shit, I feel sorry for you
